International pop superstar Katy Perry and former prime minister Justin Trudeau were spotted dining together Monday night at a high-end Montreal restaurant, an encounter that caused a “roar” online.
TMZ first reported the story and obtained photos and video of Perry and Trudeau talking to each other at a table for two at Le Violon, a fine dining-establishment run by celebrity chef Danny Smiles in the city’s Plateau neighbourhood.
The entertainment outlet also reported Perry and Trudeau went on a walk together in Montreal’s Mount Royal Park earlier in the day.
Perry is performing Tuesday in Ottawa, then she’ll be in Montreal and Quebec City this week as part of her Lifetimes Tour.
TMZ reported that an eyewitness saw the two drinking cocktails and sharing several dishes, including one with lobster.
It’s not publicly known why Trudeau and Perry were dining together.
Perry recently split up with her long-term partner, actor Orlando Bloom. In August 2023, Trudeau and his ex-wife Sophie Grégoire announced their separation after being married for 18 years.
Le Violon bills itself as a neighbourhood restaurant focused on seafood-forward dishes and seasonal Quebec produce. It was ranked 11th on the most recent list of Canada’s 100 best restaurants.
